The Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV) has inducted 298 new fellows, charging them to serve as worthy ambassadors of the profession and project the institution’s image globally.
Speaking at the 2026 induction ceremony in Abuja, NIESV President, Victor Alonge, said the elevation of members to the rank of fellow comes with a responsibility to positively impact both the profession and national development.
“As ambassadors of the institution, you have commenced a journey that carries the responsibility to strengthen the profession and contribute meaningfully to the country,” he said.
Alonge noted that Nigeria requires thorough, competent and diligent estate surveyors and valuers who can deliver honest consultancy and professional real estate services, particularly under the Bola Tinubu administration.
He urged the new fellows to leverage technology to enhance professional practice, noting that the evolving digital landscape offers unprecedented opportunities for innovation and service delivery. “Today’s digital landscape offers incredible opportunities for all kinds of endeavours and innovation. You are privileged to use technology to make positive changes. Whenever duty beckons, ensure you render valuable and quality service to Nigeria,” he said.
The NIESV president further charged the fellows to advance the institution’s aims and objectives, defend its constitution, and uphold the council’s decisions in a dignified and professional manner.
“As we navigate complex market dynamics and diverse stakeholder expectations, ethical principles must remain the foundation upon which trust and credibility are built,” Alonge added.
Speaking on behalf of the inductees, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, who received an honorary fellowship of the institution, said the recognition would spur him to contribute more to the growth of the profession and national development.
The monarch thanked NIESV for recognising his contributions to the country’s physical development, particularly in the real estate and property sector, over the past 26 years.
“It is a great honour which I will continue to cherish, and I remain committed to giving back to the institution and Nigeria as a whole,” he said.
