/* That's all, stop editing! */ define('DISABLE_WP_CRON', true); NLS DG, Odusote, moves to strengthen legal education, endorses PUSG – Ask Legal Palace

Barely weeks into her tenure, the Director-General of the Nigerian Law School, Mrs. Olugbemisola Titilayo Odusote, has taken a decisive step toward strengthening access to legal education by endorsing the Prada Uzodimma Law School Scholarship Grant (PUSG).

The endorsement followed a courtesy visit by the Founder of PUSG, Dr. Prada O. Uzodimma, Esq., who met with Odusote to congratulate her on her recent appointment and brief her on the scholarship’s objectives, governance framework and track record of impact. During the engagement, Odusote acknowledged the initiative’s consistency and transparency and expressed support for its continued expansion.

The Prada Uzodimma Law School Scholarship Grant is implemented in partnership with Principle Legal Consult as part of its corporate social responsibility programme. The initiative is focused on ensuring that qualified candidates admitted to the Nigerian Law School are not denied the opportunity to proceed due to financial constraints.

The endorsement builds on earlier institutional backing received by PUSG from the former Director-General of the Nigerian Law School, Mr. Isa Chiroma, as well as endorsement from the former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami. The continuity of support across successive leadership, observers note, underscores the initiative’s credibility and relevance within Nigeria’s legal education landscape.

Since its establishment, the scholarship scheme has expanded steadily in scope and reach, with the number of beneficiaries increasing year after year.

Beyond tuition support, PUSG has also provided structured professional development through its PUSG Fireside Chat Series, which offers beneficiaries mentorship and career guidance from senior members of the legal profession.

The programme further supports beneficiaries through internship placements and post–Law School employment opportunities facilitated by its growing professional network.

Commending the initiative, Odusote highlighted the importance of structured private-sector interventions in promoting merit-based access to legal education and strengthening the profession.

Commenting on the endorsement, Uzodimma said: “The endorsement by the current Director-General of the Nigerian Law School affirms the governance standards, accountability framework and long-term sustainability of PUSG. Our focus extends beyond financial support to the deliberate development of competent, ethical and socially responsible legal practitioners.”

Preparations are currently underway for the next selection cycle, with organisers confirming that #PUSG2025 beneficiaries will be announced shortly.

The Prada Uzodimma Law School Scholarship Grant continues to position itself as a sustained intervention aimed at strengthening equity and access within Nigeria’s legal profession through institutional collaboration and private-sector leadership.
