The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has released the full programme of activities for its 2026 Annual General Conference scheduled to hold in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, from August 21 to 28, 2026, under the theme, “Beyond Limits.”
The eight-day conference will take place principally at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Port Harcourt, and will bring together members of the Nigerian legal profession, public institutions, business leaders, academics and other stakeholders for professional discourse, institutional activities, community engagement and leadership transition.
In a notice issued by the NBA National Publicity Secretary, Bridget Edokwe, Esq., the Association said the conference programme had been structured to combine professional development, institutional business, social activities and engagement with the host community.
Activities will begin on Friday, August 21, with a Jumaat service at the Rivers State Muslim Central Mosque, 208 Niger Street, Port Harcourt.
On Saturday, August 22, participants will take part in a health walk, tree planting and community clean-up exercise.
The same day will also feature the Pre-Conference National Executive Council meeting and the Welcome Cocktail.
On Sunday, August 23, conference activities will begin with a church service at Christ Church Port Harcourt, No. 1 Forces Avenue, Old GRA, Port Harcourt.
The formal opening ceremony of the conference will also take place that day, alongside the opening of the Friendship Centre, which will serve as a major meeting and networking point for delegates throughout the conference.
From August 24 to 26, the conference will move into its principal professional and social programme, with showcases, plenary sessions and breakout sessions scheduled across the three days.
The period will also feature the final of the conference football competition, the President’s Dinner and UNBARRED, providing delegates with opportunities for networking and social engagement alongside the substantive conference sessions.
On August 27, the various sections of the Nigerian Bar Association will hold their Annual General Meetings, while the NBA itself will hold its Annual General Meeting.
The conference will conclude on August 28 with the AGC Press Conference, the swearing-in ceremony and the departure of delegates.
According to the NBA, the theme, “Beyond Limits,” will provide the framework for discussions examining the role of the legal profession in a rapidly changing legal, economic and institutional environment.
The Association said the conference is expected to convene leaders and practitioners across the Nigerian legal profession alongside representatives of public institutions, the business community, academia and wider society for substantive engagement and professional exchange.
“Across the week, Beyond Limits will provide the framework for examining the profession’s role in a rapidly changing legal, economic and institutional environment,” the NBA stated.
“The Conference is expected to bring together the leaders and practitioners of the Nigerian legal profession, public institutions, business, academia and wider society for substantive engagement and professional exchange.”
The Association urged lawyers and other expected participants to make arrangements to attend the conference.
“Please make plans to attend,” Edokwe stated.
The 2026 NBA Annual General Conference will therefore run from August 21 to 28 in Port Harcourt, with activities spanning religious services, community outreach, professional sessions, institutional meetings, sporting and social events, the NBA Annual General Meeting and a swearing-in ceremony to conclude the conference.
