The Lagos State Head of Service, Bode Agoro, has urged Lands Officers across the state to embrace emerging technologies and adapt to evolving digital systems in order to improve efficiency and strengthen public service delivery.
Agoro made the call during the opening of a three-day retreat organised for management staff of the Lagos State Lands Bureau, themed “Lands 360: Team Bonding and Performance Enhancement.”
The retreat, which began on Friday at Jubilee Chalet in Epe, was centred on the theme, “Sustainable Performance, Digital Readiness and Team Excellence for a Greater Lagos.”
Speaking at the event, Agoro described the theme as both relevant and timely, noting that rapid technological advancement is reshaping workplace practices and redefining expectations within the public service.
According to him, the Lagos State Government is steadily transitioning from conventional digital operations to more advanced electronic systems, making adaptation unavoidable for public officers.
He said land officers must remain responsive to innovation and evolving service demands to sustain effective administration within the sector.
“Technological advancements continue to redefine workplace practices,” Agoro said, stressing that officers must align themselves with changing digital realities to enhance operational efficiency and service delivery.
The Head of Service commended the Permanent Secretary of the Lands Bureau, Mr Kamar Olowoshago, alongside management staff and officers of the bureau, for what he described as their dedication, resilience and professionalism in the discharge of their responsibilities.
He noted that the nature of public service requires commitment and sacrifice, describing the profession as “a calling.”
Agoro further praised the officers for their patience and conduct in handling interactions with members of the public, observing that managing public-facing responsibilities demands “a high level of tolerance and understanding.”
He added that the commitment demonstrated by officers of the bureau has continued to distinguish the agency among Ministries, Departments and Agencies in the state.
The Head of Service also expressed appreciation to the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for sustaining investments in the training and retraining of civil servants across government institutions.
According to him, continuous capacity development remains critical to improving productivity, strengthening institutional performance and preparing the public service for emerging challenges in a rapidly digitising environment.
