The Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association has cleared all aspirants seeking national offices in the forthcoming 2026 elections of the Nigerian Bar Association, with no candidate disqualified at the close of the screening process.
In the final list released from the ECNBA Secretariat in Garki, Abuja, the committee confirmed that every aspirant who submitted nomination forms successfully met the eligibility requirements to contest.
The list confirms a three-way contest for the office of President. Those cleared to run are Aare Olumuyiwa Akinboro SAN, Lateef Omoyemi Akangbe SAN, and Oyinkansola Badejo-Okunsanya SAN.
For the position of First Vice President, the committee cleared Chief Oghenero Okoro, Luqman Laoye, and Onimisi Stephen Obajaja. Egya Nuhu John is the sole candidate for Second Vice President, while Pepple Iniobong Irene will contest for Third Vice President.
A total of six candidates are in the race for General Secretary, namely Afamefuna Okwudili Okeke, Barth Okoye-Aniche, Chidi Vick Ezenwafor, Rapuluchukwu Ernest Nduka, Nnaebuka Onyebuchi Nwaeze, and Okey Leo Ohagba.
Seven candidates were cleared for Assistant General Secretary: Benjamin Emeka Enyiagu, Chiduabo Prince Henry Mamah, Gladys Aghogho Okpomor, Magaji Tijjani, Onwudinjo Lucky Eloka, Osatohamwen Uwagboe, and Osarodion Michael Igiede.
Also listed is Esther Ifeoma Jimoh for the position of Treasurer. The Welfare Secretary position has five contenders: Akinwunmi Samson Laleye, Aigbokhai Oaikhena Osagie, Chinelo Audrey Ofoegbunam, Chiwendu Ugochukwu, and Ernest Ezindu Uwanaka.
For the office of Publicity Secretary, Ayewa Lawrence Ikpehai and Prince Ikwuadi Azubuike are in the race, while four candidates—Lukman Oladimeji Jaiyeola, Aki Uwomano Anthony Junior, Hadiza Nasir Ahmad, and Meti Monday Ukpeh—will contest for Assistant Publicity Secretary.
The committee also released the names of candidates seeking election as NBA Representatives to the General Council of the Bar across the Eastern, Western, and Northern zones, indicating a wide spread of participation from across the country.
The list, dated May 3, 2026, was signed by the ECNBA Chairman, Aham Ejelam, and the Secretary, Ibrahim Aliyu Nassarawa.
