Chairman of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, Biyi Poroye, and the commission’s Administrative Secretary, Abike Bayo-Ilawole, alongside two other senior officials, yesterday appeared before the Code of Conduct Bureau, Akure office, over allegations of N463 million fraud levelled against the commission’s management.

The officials were invited by the anti-graft body following a petition alleging that over N400 million was transferred from the commission’s official accounts to personal bank accounts belonging to some of its officers.

The two other officials invited for questioning were the Director of Project Planning and Development, Olubunmi Filani, and the Deputy Director of Project Monitoring and Evaluation.

Speaking with journalists after the interrogation session, the Deputy Superintendent of the CCB in Ondo State, Mrs Aliu Akingbemila, confirmed that the four officials were invited over alleged financial impropriety involving a breach of the Code of Conduct for public officers.

She disclosed that the officials had been directed to return on Monday with vital documents, including personal bank statements and other supporting records to back their defence.

The CCB official explained that transferring public funds from a commission’s account to private accounts constituted a violation of the Code of Conduct, noting that the bureau was conducting a thorough follow-up investigation.
