The Ondo State Police Command on Friday said it arrested no fewer than 2500 suspected criminals across the 18 local government areas of the state in 2025.
According to the command, the suspects were allegedly involved in crimes such as kidnapping, robbery, murder , stealing, cultism and vandalism among others.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Adebowale of the command, Mr Adebowale Lawal, who disclosed this in a statement, said the command was committed to ensuring adequate security of lives and prosperity of the people of the state .
Giving the breakdown , Lawal stated 250 of the suspects were arrested for unlawful possession of substance suspected to be hard drug, 49 for
armed robbery, 85 for kidnapping, 407 were nabbed for vandalization and stealing, 365 for cultism, 50 for murder and 1,434 allegedly committed some other undisclosed offences.
He added that some Items were recovered from the suspects which include stolen vehicles, arms and ammunition and forged documents among others.
The CP said , “The collective efforts of other security agencies in the state have contributed significantly to a safer environment and a measurable decline in high-impact crimes, thereby creating conditions. conducive to sustainable social and economic development.
” Security remains a collective responsibility, and the Ondo State Police Command, so we urge citizens to continue supporting our ongoing efforts by providing credible and actionable information that will help prevent crimes before they occur.”
The Ondo police boss also mentioned that the command lost some of its officers and men during the year under review.
“While reflecting soberly on the year under review, the command remembers with deep sense of loss the officers who paid the ultimate price in the line of duty. We lost some personnel during active service in the course of the year.
“They were gallant, dedicated, and courageous officers whose sacrifices will never be forgotten. Our thoughts and prayers remain with their families, and we pray that God grants them eternal rest and the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
“I wish to reassure the good people of Ondo State of our unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property. The Command remains resolute in consolidating these gains and will not relent in its fight against crime in all its forms.
