Taraba State High Court will proceed on its 2026 annual vacation from Monday, August 3, to Sunday, October 4, following an announcement by the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Joel Agya.
The declaration was contained in Taraba State Legal Notice No. 3 of 2026 on the Annual Vacation of the High Court of Justice, signed by Justice Agya and issued in Jalingo on Sunday.
According to the notice, the vacation was approved in accordance with Order 8 of the High Court Rules 2011, which grants the Chief Judge the authority to determine the period of the court’s annual recess through an official gazette notification.
Justice Agya stated that all divisions of the Taraba State High Court would observe the vacation during the stated period.
However, the Chief Judge assured that the break would not affect the handling of urgent legal matters, noting that cases requiring immediate attention would continue to receive consideration.
He further explained that a judge could hear a matter during the vacation if all parties involved jointly agreed and requested that the case proceed.
To ensure continued access to justice, Justice Agya appointed Justice Clara Kataps as the vacation judge responsible for attending to urgent matters throughout the court’s recess.
