DECLARATION OF INTEREST FOR THE OFFICE OF CHAIRMAN, NIGERIAN BAR ASSOCIATION, MAKURDI BRANCH

Distinguished Bar Elders, Learned Silks, respected senior colleagues, and esteemed members of our great Makurdi Bar.

With all sense of humility and sincerity of purpose, I, Joseph Mtemdoo Gbagyo formally declare my intention to contest for the office of Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Makurdi Branch.

This decision stems from a deep personal conviction, extensive consultations, and an unwavering commitment to the growth, unity, and progress of our dear Branch.

I am inspired by the collective potential of our members and the urgent need to reposition our Branch as a model of excellence, professionalism, and relevance within the legal community and beyond.

My aspiration, therefore, is to build a united, forward-looking, and institutionally strong Bar that prioritises the welfare and continuous development of its members, while fostering meaningful partnerships that drive sustainable development.

I come before you not to make grand promises or empty rhetorics and I do not hold myself out as possessing a magic wand that addresses the challenges of the Bar forthwith. I come before you with a deep sense of purpose, clarity, humility, and an unshakable belief in what we can achieve together.

Encouraged by the popular adage that “the strength of a broom lies not in the power of a single frond but in the resilience of its united fronds” I am certain that with the wittiness of our elders and the strong bond we share as a Bar the sky is a starting point of what we can achieve together.

I seek your blessings, prayers, counsel, support and votes in this quest so that together we can build a united Bar where our voices matter, our practice thrives, and our welfare is non-negotiable.

Thank you for your consideration and support.

Joseph Mtemdoo Gbagyo
