Muslim faithful of peaceful and hitch-frer eid-el-fitr celebration across the state.
He stated that robust security has been deployed to mosques, prayer grounds, and recreational centers, with intensified visibility patrols across major roads and public spaces to ensure the safety of residents during the festivities.
The CP gave this assurance while parading 75 criminal suspects arrested for various criminal offences in the month of March, alongside the arms and ammunition recovered from them, at the command’s headquarters, Owerri, yesterday.
“I wish to assure all Imolites, both at home and in the diaspora, that adequate security measures have been put in place to ensure that the upcoming Eid-el-Fitr celebrations are hitch-free in Imo State.
“There will be maximum deployment of security personnel at worship centers and recreational facilities, while ensuring free movement of traffic throughout the State.
“I advise all travelers during this period to drive safely, and to obey traffic rules and regulations to guarantee a safe and peaceful festive season.” he said.
He congratulated the Muslim faithful on the successful completion of Ramadan and urged all Imolites to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and to report any suspicious activities to the nearest Police Station. He prayed that the celebration brings sustained peace, unity, and safety to our dear State.
The Imo CP further noted that the Command has sustained proactive and intelligence-driven operations, resulting in significant successes in the fight against crime and criminality across the State.
He said, “I am pleased to report that as a result of these concerted efforts, the crime wave in Imo State has drastically reduced, creating a safer environment for residents and visitors alike.
“Within the period under review, we arrested a total of 75 criminal suspects for offences including kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism, terrorism linked to IPOB/ESN, murder, and stealing.
“We also recorded substantial recoveries, including three AK-47 rifles, three magazines, 65 rounds of live ammunition, two locally made pistols, one Beretta pistol, and six stolen motorcycles.”
“To this end, I urge all Imolites to continue to support the Police with credible and timely information. Let me assure you that such information will be treated with utmost confidentiality and acted upon promptly.” he said.
