/* That's all, stop editing! */ define('DISABLE_WP_CRON', true); CLE guidelines on resolving admission queries to NLS – Ask Legal Palace

The Council of Legal Education (CLE) has released comprehensive guidelines outlining procedures for addressing major queries that may arise during the Nigerian Law School admission process, reaffirming its commitment to fairness, transparency, and due process.

According to the CLE, the guidelines are intended to ensure that all applicants are treated consistently and that discrepancies identified during screening are resolved promptly to avoid unnecessary delays in admission.

The Council clarified that name discrepancies will be addressed based on the source of the error. Where an error is attributable to the applicant, the affected candidate is required to depose to an affidavit affirming the mistake and clearly stating the correct name arrangement as verified by the issuing university.

However, where the discrepancy originates from the university, the institution must issue a written acknowledgment of the error on its official letterhead. The document must state the correct names and arrangement and be duly signed by the Registrar.

Applicants who fail to submit required certificates, including WAEC or LLB certificates, are mandated to provide the missing documents and submit them to the Secretary to the Council and Director of Administration (SDA).

Similarly, candidates who omitted a letter of transfer from a previous university must supply the document, which must be issued on the institution’s official letterhead and signed by an authorized officer.

For any unaccounted period reflected in an application, the CLE requires applicants to depose to an affidavit explaining their whereabouts during the period in question.

Applicants who failed to submit Form C are required to complete the form and depose to an affidavit affirming the accuracy of the information provided. Where employment history or other mandatory sections are left blank, the applicant must complete the relevant sections and forward the documents to the Office of the Secretary to the Council.

The Council directed that all responses to queries must be forwarded to the Office of the Secretary to the Council of Legal Education and Director of Administration, accompanied by a covering letter stating the applicant’s name, university, and the specific query being addressed.
