The Council of Legal Education (CLE) has thrown open registration for the 2026 Bar Final Resit Examinations, alongside the mandatory revision programme for candidates seeking another attempt at the Bar Finals.

In a notice issued by the Nigerian Law School, Bwari, and signed by the Secretary to the Council and Director of Administration, prospective candidates were informed that the online registration process will run from January 26 to February 28, 2026.

According to the Council, the resit exercise will be conducted exclusively at the Abuja Campus of the Nigerian Law School. Revision lectures and tutorials are scheduled to begin on March 16 and will continue until May 8, 2026, while the examinations themselves will hold from May 16 to May 22, 2026.

The CLE announced that all candidates are required to pay a ₦30,000 application fee, while those resitting all papers will pay ₦120,000. Candidates resitting only one paper are to pay ₦70,000, and participation in the revision programme attracts an additional ₦50,000 fee.

The Council stressed that attendance at the revision programme is compulsory for candidates resitting all papers, adding that attendance will be strictly monitored. Only candidates who record not less than 80 per cent attendance will be permitted to sit for the examinations. However, candidates resitting a single paper may choose not to participate in the revision classes.

Payments are to be made through the CBN/REMITA platform into the account of the Council of Legal Education, either electronically or at any commercial bank. Candidates are required to indicate the purpose of payment and their full names during the transaction to with;

Following payment of the application fee, candidates must forward their Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR), full names, email address, and phone number to resit2026@lawschool.gov.ng. Access details to the registration portal will be issued after payment verification.

The CLE fuqrther directed candidates to submit hard copies of required documents to the Office of the Secretary to the Council and Director of Administration, Nigerian Law School, Bwari, on or before March 20, 2026. These include:

Two copies of printout of the Bar Final Result (all previous attempts)
Four passport photographs
Two photocopies of Law School ID Card
Two copies of payment receipts
The Council warned that candidates who register but fail to appear for the examination will automatically lose their registration fees. It also clarified that accommodation will only be provided during the examination period and at a moderate charge.
