The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention has held the first Incident Management Meeting on the Ebola outbreak, a day after the Federal Government declared the outbreak in the country.
The agency disclosed this in a statement on its X page on Wednesday.
According to the NCDC, the meeting brought together leadership and key partners to align on response efforts.
“The first Incident Management Meeting was convened on October 21, 2026, after the Honorable Minister’s official outbreak declaration of Ebola in Nigeria, bringing together leadership and key partners to align on response efforts,” the agency said.
The NCDC added that the Incident Action Plan was still being worked on and its teams were already working in the field.
“The Incident Action Plan is being finalized today; NCDC teams are on the ground conducting case management and response activities, prioritising enhanced surveillance, contact tracing, infection prevention and control, and coordinated risk communication,” the statement read.
“We remain committed to a timely, coordinated, and evidence-based response to safeguard the health of Nigerians,” the NCDC added.
The Federal Government on Tuesday confirmed an Ebola virus disease case in the Federal Capital Territory, following laboratory tests. The patient is a woman who recently arrived from Uganda on an international flight. She was reportedly treated at a private hospital for several days before the diagnosis was confirmed, and is now in isolation.
