Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas has inspected the ongoing construction of the permanent headquarters of the new 10 Division Nigerian Army Barracks at Yali Community, near Sibre, on the outskirts of Jalingo, describing the project as a major boost to security in the state and the North-East.
During the inspection, the governor was taken on a tour of the facility by Major Esosasere Ernest Omorodion, who briefed him on the various components of the permanent headquarters and the level of work completed.
The barracks site, which was originally developed for the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, is being expanded to serve as the headquarters of the newly created 10 Division.
Speaking during the visit, the Commander of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Chukwuemeka Akaliro, described the establishment of the 10 Division in Taraba as a welcome development, expressing confidence that it would strengthen military operations across the region.
Governor Kefas said the decision to locate the new Division in Taraba underscored the state’s strategic importance in Nigeria’s security architecture.
“Taraba’s selection to host the Division reflects the state’s strategic importance in our national security architecture,” the governor said.
He added that the new Division would enhance security coordination and improve the military’s operational capacity in addressing security challenges within Taraba and neighbouring states.
