The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has rescued a female victim who sustained injuries, including fractures to her arm and leg, in a hit-and-run accident along the Lekki-Epe Expressway.

The incident occurred at EFF Bus Stop inward Marwa when an unidentified motorist allegedly knocked down the woman and fled the scene, leaving her critically injured on the busy roadway.

According to LASTMA, its officers, who were on routine traffic monitoring duties in the area, responded swiftly by securing the victim from further harm, evacuating her from the carriageway and alerting the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS).

The officers also managed traffic around the scene to prevent secondary crashes and ensure the free flow of vehicles.

LASAMBUS officials later arrived and conveyed the victim to General Hospital Odan for urgent medical attention and further evaluation.

Reacting to the incident, LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, condemned the growing trend of hit-and-run accidents, describing such acts as morally unacceptable and contrary to the law.
