The Nigeria Police Force has initiated disciplinary proceedings against 167 senior officers over alleged misconduct and violations of professional standards.
The exercise is being carried out by the Force Disciplinary Committee at the Force Headquarters in Abuja. It is focused on reviewing pending cases involving officers from the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police and above.
In a statement, Force spokesperson Anthony Placid explained that the committee is tasked with thoroughly examining each case in line with existing laws and regulations before making recommendations to the Police Service Commission for appropriate action.
He noted that the process is designed to ensure fairness, transparency, and accountability in handling disciplinary matters concerning senior officers.
The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, said the proceedings reflect the Force’s commitment to discipline, professionalism, and ethical conduct. He stressed that any officer found guilty would face due process without exception.
According to him, the ongoing review is part of broader institutional reforms aimed at strengthening internal control systems, promoting integrity within the Force, and improving public confidence.
