Community marvel as suspect returns to crime days before court sitting in Lagos

While looking forward to his next day in the dock, 27-year-old Emmanuel Ogundipe has returned to crime.

He was arrested in Egbin Community on April 6, 2026.

A search conducted at the point of arrest led to the recovery of a locally made pistol and two live cartridges.

The suspect had previously been arraigned in 2025 for conspiracy and stealing, a case which is still ongoing, with his next court appearance scheduled for today, April 9.

Despite, he continued to engage in criminal activities.

In another development, 18-year-old Israel Osanwuta was arrested while attempting to take delivery of a N20 million ransom.

Following a complaint from Ojokoro Local Council Development Area (LCDA) on a threat to life and demand for N20 million, the Lagos State Police Command deployed a decoy operation to lure the suspect to a location to take delivery of the money.

Unaware of the trap, he went to the location and was nabbed by operatives.

Recovered exhibits include one HP laptop and one flash drive. The suspect confessed to the crime and admitted involvement in a previous attempted burglary at a commercial bank.

On the same day, operatives of the command arrested five suspected members of a car theft syndicate known for stealing vehicles and dismantling them for resale.

Recovered exhibits include one Toyota Sienna and one Toyota Camry with efforts ongoing to recover more stolen vehicles.

And apprehend other members of the syndicate.

Upon a complaint received against 36-year-old AdeniyiMumuni, he was arrested in connection with a suspected armed robbery case. The suspect voluntarily confessed to the alleged crimes.

Detectives conducted follow-up operations, which led to the arrest of four on April 1, 2026.
Recovered exhibits include a local pistol and one live cartridge.

The suspects confessed to robbing victims in the Ikotun and Egbeda axes.

Lagos State Commissioner of Police (CP), Tijani Fatai, enjoined members of the public to remain vigilant and support the police with credible and timely information.

“The command will not tolerate any form of criminality. Those involved in unlawful activities are advised to desist or face the full weight of the law,” he added.
