India: Central arrest Nigerian with drugs worth N803.07 million

A 13-day manhunt has ended with the arrest of a suspect accused of hacking his elder brother to death with a cutlass in Ofeh community, Eberi, in Omuma Local Council of Rivers State.

The suspect, Nwalozie Chiwendu, was apprehended on Tuesday morning in Owerrinta, Isiala Ngwa South Local Council of Abia State, where he allegedly fled after the incident.

Sources said Chiwendu allegedly killed his elder brother, Chidiebere Isaiah, during a violent altercation on February 12, 2026, sending shockwaves through the agrarian community.

The killing was reported at the Eberi Division under the Oyigbo Area Command, prompting an immediate investigation and a search for the fleeing suspect.

Residents of Ofeh community reportedly expressed outrage over the incident, describing it as tragic and unprecedented within the family.

Security sources said intelligence tracking led to the suspect’s arrest in Abia State.

It was gathered that following his arrest, Chiwendu was handed over to the Rivers State Police Command for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Police authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the circumstances surrounding the killing or the motive for the alleged attack.
