The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,

EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, has lamented the sharp drop in whistle-blowing operation in Nigeria.

According to a statement shared on the official X handle of the Anti-graft agency on Thursday, the EFCC boss stated that by December 2025, the decade-long policy, which recovered over $178 million stolen from the Federal Government in two months of introduction, has suffered a significant decline despite its impact.

The Chairman, who was represented by Assistant Commander of EFCC, ACE II Kamilu Ibrahim Gebi, spoke while presenting a paper titled: “Benefits of the Whistleblowing Policy in the Fight against Corruption in Nigeria” at a nationwide sensitization program on Whistleblowing Policy Implementation organised by the Federal Ministry of Finance on Thursday, in Sokoto.

The statement reads, “by December 2025, the policy has been close to a decade in operation in Nigeria; but my interest is not in its longevity but impact.

“In the first two months of its introduction in Nigeria, over $178 million stolen money was recovered for the Federal Government through the policy.”Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has identified

a new generation bank, a micro finance bank and fintech company to be involved in an investment scheme.
