The Sharia Court of Appeal, Federal Capital Territory, FCT, has affirmed a fee schedule for processes in the Area Courts within its jurisdiction.
This is sequel to a letter written by the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Gwagwalada Branch to the FCT Grand Kadi seeking clarification of fees payable at these courts.
Responding, the Court also announced that it has set up a committee to come up with more “standard and realistic chargeable fees.”
The Court also noted that the fee schedule has been communicated to all area courts in the FCT.
“By virtue of the powers conferred upon the Honourable Grand Kadi vide section 49 of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja Area Courts(Repeal and Enactment) Act 2019, I, Hon. Ibrahim Rufa’i Imam Grand Kadi FCT, do hereby approve the following fees chargeable for Area Courts in FCT:
