Four persons were, on Wednesday, arraigned before the Lagos State Magistrate’s Court for allegedly attacking officials of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps.

The suspects, Etem Linus, Remond Ogalego, Nwagli Sunday and Wisdom Obinna, were arraigned before Magistrate H. B. Magaji for assault and causing grievous bodily harm.

It was gathered that the suspects and others at large had on Tuesday attacked the officials of LAGESC, who were dislodging street traders on the Mobolaji Bank Anthony Road, Ikeja.

Our correspondent learnt that the suspects allegedly inflicted injury on the head of one of the officials, Oshinowo Mojeed, while others sustained varying degrees of injury.

The Corps Marshal of the agency, Akinpelu Gbemisola, who condemned the attack on the officials, noted that incessant attacks on LAGESC personnel carrying out their official duties would no longer be tolerated.

“It was one of many attacks on enforcement officers in the state, which had resulted in the loss of lives and injuries to our personnel, while trying to ensure that our roads, walkways and road setbacks on major highways in the state are free of illegal trading activities and street hawking, which mostly impede the free flow of human and vehicular movement, and often constitute gridlock on our roads,” she stated.        ,,
