The monarch, who announced the cancellation of the annual Ebi festival, which is one of the notable cultural festivals in Epe, scheduled to commence last Sunday, said the decision became imperative owing to the government’s decision to ban social gathering in a bid to contain the spread of coronavirus in the state.
According to him, “In view of the measures put in place by the government to curtail the spread of the disease, especially, the need to avoid social engagements of any type, the Oba-in-Council thought it necessary to cancel the festival and support the government in its efforts to save people’s lives.
“I therefore urged all residents of Epe, in particular and Lagos in general to keep to the measures put on place by the government. I also enjoin residents to postpone all manners of engagements that would create room for more than 20 people at a time, as government’s position suggested. Anybody that violates this decision may found himself/herself to be blamed.”
