Operatives of the Kaduna State Police Command have arrested suspected armed robbers and kidnappers in the state following a tip-off.
DSP Mansir Hassan, the state’s police spokesperson, made this known in a statement on Tuesday as he explained how the arrests were carried out.
He added that the four armed robbery suspects, Abubakar Alkamu (age 29), Hassan Isa (age 25), Umar Abubakar (age 25), and Ahmed Lama (age 29) confessed to the crime.
Hassan said, “On January 19, 2025, at about 6:30 am, acting on credible intelligence, a team of detectives led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Samaru-Zaria launched an operation in the Zango and Hayin Jarumai areas.
“The suspects were arrested, and during a search of Hassan Isa’s residence, a dagger used in their criminal activities was recovered.”
The police are still on the trail of other members of the gang who are still at large, as Hassan stated that they would surely be arrested.
DSP Hassan also said that two suspected kidnappers were arrested in the Jere axis of the Kaduna metropolis.
They are Abubakar Ahmadu and Shuhu Sani, and the police retrieved the sum of N156,000 and three phones from them.
Hassan said that both men confessed to being involved in banditry and had been operating along the Abuja-Kaduna area.
