The Council of Legal Education, CLE, have released lists of accredited faculties of law In Nigeria and their approved quota as at 2023.

Recall that ASKLEGALPALACE on the 23rd of April had published a list of Faculties approved by the Council from which admission can be gotten for the one-year Law School Program.

The list had been signed by the Secretary of the Council and the Director of Administration.

However, the list was greeted with

a flurry of enquiries and apprehension from students, parents and guardians across the country as they questioned the visible absence of some Faculties of Law which had been approved by the

Council to carryout a law program, has been taken down this afternoon.

A notice on the Council’s website read, “The list that contains the names of

approved law faculties has been withdrawn. A new list in being compiled.”

Meanwhile, In order to practice law in Nigeria, a candidate must have been enrolled in the Nigerian Law School, which is governed by the Council of Legal Education.

Additionally, it specifies the measures that individuals with

a law degree from a foreign university who wish to practice law in Nigeria must undergo.

Only authorized law faculties are permitted to send students to the Nigerian Law School and to admit candidates to the Nigerian Bar.

In order to avoid ambiguity of thought, the Council of Legal Education and the Board of Studies do not recognize any study of law conducted through correspondence, on a part-time basis, or in

any environment other than a traditional full-time university setting as preparation for admission to the Nigerian Law School or for practice as a lawyer.
