Oyo Board seals 6 hotels, 4 banks, others over Land Use charges default
The Oyo State Government has sealed off six hotels, four commercial banks, three filling stations and seven other companies for defaulting in the payment of the state’s Land Use charges.

The state government indicated, on Thursday, that in line with its Land Use Charge Revenue Demand Bill, its enforcement team sealed the affected outfits off for failing to fulfil their financial obligation to the state after several reminders.

The affected properties were served bills for over 90 days in line with the obligation of the Land Use Charge.

According to the state government, most of the business outfits owed the state millions of naira.

The Chairman, Board of Internal Revenue, John Adeleke, said the exercise was targeted at driving the businesses in the state to be alive to their responsibilities.

“The focus of the drive is not to close down or ground any business but to give a push to businesses to assist the government in creating a better business premise for them to thrive,” Adeleke said.

He urged business owners in the state to always fulfil their obligation by remitting taxes, levies and bills to the government.
