Some worried residents of Koko community in Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State have raised the alarm over the alleged incursion of some Fulani herdsmen into the High Court complex in the area, turning the complex to a grazing zone.
The audacity of the herdsmen, according to local sources, followed the recent suspension of court activities at the complex due to the damaged roof of the facility.
Some of the respondents however lamented the dilapidated state of the public infrastructure which they noted had also resulted to decline in socioeconomic development in the local government area.
They urged the authorities to, “as a matter of urgency, see to the renovation of the abandoned court facility in order to evacuate the herdsmen from the facility”.
This, they also claimed, would alleviate the burden of the high court staff, who paid exorbitant transportation fare from Koko to Oghara in Ethiope West Local Government Area, virtually on daily basis.
A member of the community, Mr. Emmanuel Oritsejolone, alleged that the presiding judge of the High Court had been compelled, as an aftermath of the deterioration, to relocate all court activities in the Division to Oghara in Ethiope West Local Government Area.
Speaking with journalists in a melancholic tone, Oritsejolone said, “It is so sad that a state government establishment has been abandoned because of damaged roof in Warri North.
