A Professor of Law and Judge of Enugu State High Court, Justice Cyprian Ajah, has taken stock of trends in the legal profession and cautioned against disregard for ethics and code of conduct capable of eroding public trust and undermine rule of law and the justice system.
Justice Ajah, therefore, advocated for strict adherence to ethics and code of conduct if the legal profession is to sustain public trust and confidence.
Ajah said: “Without ethics and trust in the legal profession, the justice system would be undermined.”
Ajah’s words of caution are contained in a lecture titled, ‘The importance of Ethics in the Legal profession,’ which he delivered at the 2022 dinner organised by the Faculty of law, Renaissance University, Ugbawka, in Enugu at the weekend.
Renaissance University is a
community-based institution. Former Governor of Enugu, Chimaroke Nnamani, established it 17 years ago.
