Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has faulted his government for not properly embarking on Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) while constructing road in Darazo Local Council, which caused the flooding that ravaged over 100 houses.
While on a sympathy visit to the affected Darazo residents, yesterday, the governor said: “What happened was because of water influx from outside as a result of the work that is going on. Usually, when you are doing roads and drainage, you have to do EIA.
“I believe that we have not done this very well. We are going to the source, we assure you. We understand that the water collected from outside the town came here to find its way, and that is why these properties were destroyed.”
