Following the heavy downpour, many artisans and shop owners along the popular Ginuwa Road in the Warri metropolis of Delta State have started leaving the locality following incessant flooding of the road. The situation is said to be hampering seamless vehicular movement in the axis.

Our correspondent learnt that the road lacked proper drainage hence the perennial flooding of the whole vicinity after any downpour, which usually denied residents access to their places of abode. That motorists plying the road en route to the neighbouring Ometa Road were compelled to make a detour at the sight of the flood.

A hotelier in the locality, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said his once-booming hotel business had become paralysed following lack of patronage.

“Most of my corporate customers take flight from the area on the excuse of inaccessibility,” he added.

A trader on Ginuwa Road, Johnson Ogoigbe, said he had secured a new shop around the Warri City Stadium.

Our correspondent observed Ogoigbe moving some of his wares into a waiting truck.

The trader, who claimed to have been in the area for over two decades, said he could no longer endure the flooding with its associated health hazards to his household.
