The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria will on Monday (today) resume hearing of the reported and investigated cases of professional misconduct levelled against some medical doctors across the country.
About 19 of such cases are expected to be heard and decided between Monday and Thursday.
The medical doctors and practitioners would appear before the MDCN tribunal.
This was disclosed in the schedule of hearing of the MDCN tribunal which was made available to our correspondent in Abuja on Sunday.
The PUNCH reports that the tribunal sanctioned no fewer than 15 medical and dental practitioners during its August 2021 sitting.
The trial is a routine exercise by the council to try doctors who have been reported by unsatisfied patients to have erred.
The exercise will afford the accused doctors the opportunity to defend themselves.
According to a document obtained from the MDCN at the weekend, out of the 19 doctors that would appear before the Prof. Abba Waziri-led disciplinary tribunal, final judgement will be delivered on the cases of two doctors after the successful completion of trial in previous sittings of the tribunal.
The schedule partly read, “The Medical and Dental Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal is to resume hearing of the reported and investigated cases of professional misconduct during its sittings which are scheduled to hold between Monday, March 7 and Thursday, March 10, 2022.”
The council also highlighted a total of 19 cases to be treated during the period of the tribunal sittings.
