A Kano State magistrate’s court on Wednesday sentenced a 20-year-old man, Aliyu Yahuza, and two other accomplices to seven months jail term in a custodial centre for defiling a minor.

The other convicted persons are Amir Rabiu, 19, and Musa Gambo, 19.

The three men, who reside at the Goron Dutse Quarters in the Kano metropolis, were convicted on two counts of criminal conspiracy and adultery.

The Magistrate, Farouk Umar, sentenced the defendants to seven months in prison with hard labour with a fine option of N20,000 each for the charge of adultery.

He also sentenced them to 12 strokes of cane for conspiracy.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Mr Auwalu Dandago, informed the court that the convicts committed the offence on November 13, 2021, at the Kofar Waika Quarters, also in the Kano metropolis.

Dandago explained that around 2pm, the defendants “criminally conspired and took a 14-year-old girl into a house at Kofar Waika Quarters and had sexual intercourse with her one after the other with her consent.”

He said the offence contravened Section 97 and 387 of the Penal Code.
