Bauchi sues Dogara, 28 others for alleged instigation of violence

Bauchi State government has filed an 11-count against the former Speaker, House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, and 28 others at the State High Court for allegedly causing loss of lives and property during the planned 21st memorial of Baba Peter Gonto on December 30 and 31, 2022.

Zaar Development Association (ZDA) had planned to honour the Sayawa/Zaar nation crusader, Gonto, but the lawmaker reportedly wrote to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to halt the event over perceived insecurity in the area.

But Dogara’s kinsmen disputed his position and went on to organise the programme with a book launch in honour of Gonto.

The charges the government slammed on the 29, yesterday, comprise conspiring to cause bodily harm on people in the area in order to frustrate the progress of the memorial.
