Two men were yesterday arraigned before a Lagos Special Sexual Offences Court, Ikeja for the alleged killing of a seven-year old boy, Kazeem Rafiu.
The duo, Adedoyin Oyekanmi and Erinmole Adetokunbo were arraigned before Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo on charges bordering on conspiracy and murder. Sometime in 2017, the duo was remanded in prison custody in connection with the death of Kazeem Rafiu. The prosecution alleged that Adedoyin Oyekanmi and Erinmole Adetokunbo, on June 7, 2017, about 2:00 p.m. on Oke-Oniburokun Street, Odokekere, Ikorodu, Lagos, in the Ikeja jurisdiction, did conspire among themselves to commit a felony, to wit: murder, thereby committing an offence. They were said to have killed one Kazeem Rafiu, aged seven, by cutting off his head with a cutlass, thereby committing an offence. The suspects were said to have lured the boy from his parents’ house on Sotunyo Street to the church’s premises on Oke-Oniburokun Street, Odo-kekere, Ikorodu, where he was allegedly killed. Also, the defendants were said to have beheaded him and buried the head around the church’s altar, while the body was kept in a canal. Erinmole was later apprehended by residents. He was said to have confessed to the crime with Adedoyin. “That you, without lawful justification or excuse, dismembered the remains of one Kazeem Rafiu,” the charge read. However, when the charge was read to them, they denied the allegations against them. The judge adjourned till November 6, 2021, for trial.
