The Lagos State Government on Monday said part of its plans for youths included building one of the largest rehabilitation centres in Africa.

The Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Sustainable Development Goals and Investment, Mrs Solape Hammond, said this during a press conference to inaugurate the SDGs Youth Alliance initiative at Alausa, Ikeja.

She said, “There is a lot of intervention around drug abuse. We are building one of the largest rehabilitation centres in Africa currently as we speak; very soon it will be completed.

“The birth of this lofty initiative – the Lagos Sustainable Development Goals Youth Alliance – emerged from our conviction that youths represent formidable and potent force through which positive impact can be made in all sphere of human endeavours.”

Hammond further stated that the initiative would drive youths to channel their potential towards a better future.

“As a government that recognises the value of collaboration and engagement, we are establishing a clear and enduring pathway for meaningful youth participation in governance while at the same time providing them with required support and enabling environment to thrive,” she added.
