THE Federal Capital Territory Administration on Wednesday demolished illegal structures at Gwarimpa Estate in Abuja.

Structures demolished were mostly shanties and stalls in the area.

The Chairman, FCT Ministerial Committee on City Sanitation, Ikharo Attah, said the demolition was to save the highbrow area from becoming a slum.

Attah described illegal markets and shanties as safe havens for hoodlums and other criminal elements, noting that the exercise would be sustained for days.
