Twenty-year-old sales’ representative, Kelechi Amuchi, was on Monday arraigned at an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing his employer’s money and clothes worth N2.43 million.
Amuchi, whose residential address was not given, is being charged with alleged conspiracy and stealing.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Prosecutor, Victor Eruada, said that the defendant stole the sum of N286,000 and clothes valued N2.145 million, property of one Mrs Gift Ihenabah.
Eruada told the court that the defendant committed the offences with others still at large on June 19,2021 at about 8.10 p.m., on Dayo Adeniyi Street, Oko Oba in Lagos State.
He alleged that the complainant suspected the defendant to have committed the atrocities and reported him to the police.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs M.O.Tanimola, admitted the defendant to N300,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.
Tanimola ruled that the sureties must be gainfully employed and have evidence of two years’ tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
The prosecutor said that the alleged offences violated Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The magistrate adjourned the case until July 29 for mention.
