BAYELSA State Police Command says its operatives have arrested three suspects in connection with Saturday’s murder of a prominent cattle dealer, Alhaji Jibril Abdulkarim, and three of his employees.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Asuquo Amba, said on Monday in Yenagoa that the suspects were being profiled while their telephone communication was also being scrutinised.
Amba said, “We have so far taken three suspects into custody and we are profiling them and their communication.
“We are looking at their phone communications. From the facts before us, it is an assassination done at a close range and the deceased must have been known to them.
“We are equally looking at the leadership issues and election of the Fulani traders. We are following the clues that we have and I am hopeful that we shall have a breakthrough.”
The Bayelsa State Chairman of the Cattle Breeders’ Association, Jibril Abdulkarim, and three of his employees were shot dead at his private abattoir in Yenagoa on Saturday, December 2, 2017.
Abdulkarim was a member of the Bayelsa Committee for the Management and Control of Ranches as well as the Chairman, CBA, in the state.
Meanwhile, the Bayelsa State Government on Sunday asked the police and other security agencies to fish out the culprits.
The government promised to collaborate with the security agencies to ensure that those behind the heinous act were arrested and brought to book.
