The FIDA Chairperson, Abuja branch, Mrs. Ngozi Ikenga, said this on Tuesday in Abuja during the association’s Law Week 2017 with the theme, “The trafficking and exploitation of women in the international territory.’
She described human trafficking as a grave form of human abuse, adding that FIDA members were willing to offer free legal services to victims.
Ikenga said, “The menace of human trafficking must stop. We want to charge the government and NAPTIP to step up arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators of trafficking. We want to see people convicted; we want to see them jailed.”
She urged countries to address issues that encourage desperate women and youths to embark on perilous journeys across the Mediterranean Sea and the Sahara Desert.
