The Lagos – An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court, on Wednesday, remanded Ademola Adejare, 21, and Taofeek Agboke, 20, both panel beaters, in prison custody for alleged assault and robbery.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs O.A. Layinka, ordered that the accused be remanded in prison custody, pending the advice of the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions. Layinka adjourned the case to March 15, for mention.
Adejare and Agboke, who reside at Ikotun, a Lagos suburb, are standing trial on a three-count charge of conspiracy, assault and armed robbery.
The Police Prosecutor, ASP Edet Okoi, told the court that the accused robbed Mr Hussein Omokayode of his mobile phones valued N112,000 at 4.35 a.m. on Dec. 6, 2017 at No. 9, Muri-Osunde St., Ikotun, Lagos.
He said that the accused and others numbering three, still at large, were armed with cutlasses, broken bottles and some other dangerous weapons.
“The accused entered the complainant’s residence, attacked and robbed him of his valuables. “The accused also assaulted Omokayode with a cutlass, causing him grievous bodily harm.
“The accused were apprehended by the security guards in their bid to escape,’’ he said. He submitted that the offences contravened the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (revised). The accused persons pleaded “not guilty” to the charges read out to them.
