A dismissed sergeant of the Nigeria Police Force attached to Jigawa State police command, Sani Danjuma, who led a suspected syndicate of armed robbers to attack a guesthouse belonging to the deputy governor of Jigawa, Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, has been arrested in Kano.

During the operation, the gang disarmed the policemen on guard duty of an AK47 rifle loaded with 30 rounds of live ammunition.

It was gathered that the dismissed officer had served as a guard duty in the said guesthouse while in active service and thus conspired with three others to attack the house, carting away a BMW posh car valued at N11 million and some undisclosed amount of cash.

Parading the suspects yesterday at the Kano State police command, its spokesman, SP Magaji Musa Majia, said the guesthouse was attacked on Sunday, March 18, at 9:30p.m.

He said: “An information via a good Samaritan was intercepted at Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) in Kano that armed robbers attacked the guesthouse of the deputy governor of Jigawa located on Okashatu Close, off Hadejia road.”

Majia said the suspects confessed to the crime, and led detectives to their hideout where the said AK47 rifle loaded with 30 rounds of live ammunition and the BMW posh car and other dangerous weapons were recovered.

Meanwhile, the Special Anti-Cultism Squad (SPACS) of the Anambra State police command has arrested seven cultists at Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of the state. Those arrested include three members of Supreme Vikings Fraternity (SVF) and four Junior Vikings Confraternity (JVC).

Pleading for forgiveness after their arrest, one of the suspects, who is a father of two, Emeka Ibe, said he lied to his wife that he was always going for night vigil in the church whenever he left for cult operations.

In his plea, one of the suspects and a father of four, Chukwunonso Alinonu, confessed that three of them arrested were executioners. He pledged to desist from cultism if he would be allowed to regain his freedom and that he would go and face his carpentry work with zeal.
