A well known family of Oyemade in Ajah area of Lagos has appealed to the Lagos State governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, over alleged invasion of their property by CMB Building Maintenance and Investment Company Ltd.
Oyemade Royal Family alleged that some gun-wielding hoodlums invaded its parcel of land spanning 74 plots located at Sangotedo Area in Ajah and demolished the structures on it. Briefing journalists on the tussle, head of the family, Mr. Tajudeen Ajenifuja, claimed that the state government allocated the land to the family.
He appealed to Ambode and relevant agencies in the state to urgently intervene before the crisis degenerate into loss of lives. According to him, the family believes in the capability of the state government’s taskforce on land-grabbers to wade into the matter.
CMB lawyer, Alexander Okpako, when contacted said the sole representative of Oyemade family sold the land to CMB and since then the family has been trying to rescue the land from CMB by engaging land-grabbers.
He noted that CMB has handed over the matter to the courts and appealed for both parties to let the courts decide the issues.
The family lawyer, Mr. Tunde Popoola, said the disputed land was stormed by hoodlums who demolished property valued at several millions of naira.
“Security officers from SARS numbering about 50 and wearing shirts with inscription ‘scorpion’ on it, invaded the land and supervised the demolition at night.”
