Federal Government of Nigeria has warned against violence and thuggery before, during and after the 2019 general elections.
The Minister of interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau, said government would not accept any untoward activities capable of causing chaos in the land from politicians and their supporters.
In a statement by the ministry’s Acting Director of Press and Public Relations, Muhammed Manga, Dambazau said security agencies had been directed to provide adequate security for lives and property as well as ensure violence-free polls.
According to him, “the possession of any type of weapons during elections or rallies may attract arrest and prosecution. Therefore youths in the country should not allow themselves to be used by desperate politicians who want power at all cost.”
