Men of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested two suspects who allegedly robbed a lecturer, Busola Oke Salako, in Ota, Ado-Odo-Ota Local Government Area of the state.
According to the command’s spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi (DSP), the two suspects, Akindele Ramon, 22 and Paul King, 20 were arrested following a distress call received from the victim at about 11:00p.m. that her house was under the siege of armed robbers.
He explained that on receiving the call, the DPO in charge of the area, Sangobiyi Johnson, dispatched his anti-robbery squad to the scene “and with the help of some members of the community, the suspects were arrested.”
According to the statement, the victim explained to the police that she was inside the house with her housemaid when her generating set suddenly went off, which prompted her to ask the maid to go and check what the problem was.
“Immediately the girl opened the door, the two marauders held her and covered her mouth with cloth and threatened to kill her if she makes noise”, Salako told the police.
The screaming of the maid when she was suddenly grabbed alerted the woman who quickly bolted the door from the back before making a distress call to the police and some members of the community.
“On interrogation, one of the suspects, Akindele Ramon, disclosed that it was Paul King who gave information about the victim to him and one Rapheal Solarin now at large”, Oyeyemi stated.
Paul King lives in the same neighborhood with the victim, which gave him the opportunity to know more about her movement. Oyeyemi disclosed that one UTC knife and an ordinary knife were recovered from the suspect.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police CP Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) for discrete investigation and prosecution.
