The Udu Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), has asked non-lawyers and unauthorised persons to desist from using the NBA Stickers on the vehicles.
The branch made this call in a statement signed by the Publicity Secretary, Austin Nyekigbe, Esq., following the report it received.
According to the statement dated 8th March, 202, titled, ‘UNLAWFUL USE OF NBA CAR STICKER BY UNAUTHORISED PERSONS, and made available to ASKLEGALPALACE, the Car Stickers is meant only for lawyers and their identifications.
“It has come to the attention of the Nigerian Bar Association, Udu Branch that some members of the public who are neither Lawyers nor authorized to use the NBA Car Sticker are in possession of and have same affixed to their Cars within Udu and its environs.
We wish to reiterate that the NBA Car Sticker is meant for the use of only Lawyers and the primary purpose is to identify Lawyers in the Society.”
The statement further states that anything short of the above amounts to impersonation and punishable under the extant Laws.
“We call on all erring members of the public to desist from further use of the NBA Car Sticker, forthwith or face the wrath of the Law.
“We also wish to inform members of the Public that the Udu Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association has constituted an NBA Car Sticker Committee and has notified all Law enforcement Agencies to fish out members of the Public who are not Lawyers but are in possession of and has the NBA Car Sticker affixed to their Cars within Udu and its environs.
“The Law enforcement Agencies together with the Members of the NBA Car Sticker Committee will man the roads for the purpose of fishing out erring members of the Public in the coming days.
“Let wise counsel prevail,” Nyekigbe, added.
