A suspected armed robber has been reportedly set ablaze by a mob in Agbarho community, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
The suspect, whose identity could not be ascertained, was set ablaze by the mob around 8.20pm on Thursday around the popular Five-Junction in the community.
Newsmen learnt that the suspected robber was set ablaze after stealing from a victim and killing him during a robbery incident.
It was learnt that the suspect, who was a member of a three-man armed robbery gang, was apprehended by residents after killing his victim.
Two members of the three-man robbery gang were said to have escaped from the mob.
A source said, “The suspected armed robber, in his bid to escape, shot continuously into the air until he ran out of bullets. He was apprehended and beaten thoroughly before he was set ablaze.”
The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, confirmed the incident to our correspondent on the telephone.
He warned residents against jungle justice, saying that law enforcement agencies must be allowed to do their jobs.
