Plateau Gov Simon Lalong and jailed Senator Joshua Dariye |
Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State on Sunday named former Governor Joshua Dariye and 48 others as members of the campaign council of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
Dariye is currently serving a 10-year jail term in Kuje Prison after he was convicted by an Abuja High Court for misappropriating the state fund while serving as governor between 1999 and 2007
A statement signed by Mark Longyen, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Lalong on Media and Publicity, and made available to journalists in Jos on Sunday night, said the campaign council has the governor as chairman, with his deputy, Prof. Sonni Tyoden, as deputy chairman.
The statement further said that the 49-member council, which would work for the re-election bid of the governor and President Muhammadu Buhari, also has Hon Letep Dabang, Plateau State APC chairman; Rt Hon Joshua Madaki, Speaker of the state House of Assembly; Solomon Dalung, Minister of Youth and Sports, as members, among others.
