According to a source close to the family, the deceased, Matthew, who was also a JSS3 student of a secondary school in Akure, was caught after he stole the money.
She disclosed that Ajoke informed her husband, Mr. Ayodele Adebayo, who is a police officer about the offence committed by his brother and he ordered his brother, Mr. Idowu Adebayo, who was also living with them, to deal with the deceased.
“The woman (Ajoke) called her husband, informing him about what the brother did, the husband then ordered his brother, Idowu, to discipline the boy. As Idowu was beating the boy, Ajoke too joined in the beating, inflicting injuries on the body of the late Mathew. After the beating, the boy was locked inside a room.
“It was boy’s friends in the area that called the attention of the neighbours to the torturing of the boy. Later, when the door was opened, he was already unconscious. He was rushed to the hospital where he gave up.”
The source noted that the neighbours immediately informed the men of the state police command, who promptly visited the scene and arrested the two suspects.
The state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Femi Joseph, who confirmed the incident, said investigation had commenced and efforts were ongoing to arrest the father of the boy.
“We have arrested the two suspect and very soon, we will arrest the police father who gave the order to beat the boy. He is not serving in our command here but he would soon be arrested,” he said.
