National coordinator for the exercise and chairman of PSC, Musiliu Smith, urged all officers to be on the alert, approachable, professional and ensure fairness and firmness.

In another vein, former deputy national publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Timi Frank, yesterday enjoined the Federal Government to stop blackmailing members of the international community especially the United States of America (U.S.A.).

In a statement, Frank described APC’s allegations of partisanship against the U.S. as unfortunate, considering the highly patriotic role played by the U.S., United Nations (UN), European Union (EU), African Union (AU) and others to bring APC to power in 2015.

He called on U.S. authorities not to be deterred in their effort to ensure that the results of the coming elections are not only acceptable, but that democracy, rule of law and respect for human rights are fully entrenched in the country.

“APC is upset and uncomfortable because America has refused to bow to its shenanigans or support its anti-democratic and corruption-ridden governance. Its sole desire is for the international community to look the other way while it continues its murderous actions against democracy and Nigerians,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Citizens Group, Ibadan, yesterday expressed disappointment over the absence of the governorship candidates of the All Progressives party (APC), Adebayo Adelabu; Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Seyi Makinde; and Social Democratic Party (SDP), Bolaji Ayorinde, at the signing of the citizen’s charter, a social contract by the group and some members of other professional and religious bodies for the people of Oyo State.

According to the chairman of Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Ibadan chapter, Oluwole Akintayo, the charter highlights very critical areas of governance by popular demand that must be met after the election by the aspirants to ensure progress in the state.

Akintayo said that Makinde had promised yesterday that he would make it to the event, after he failed to attend the signing last week, adding that it took the group a lot of time and resources to prepare the social contract, hence they expected the candidates to come and reassure the people of their commitment by signing it.

The head organiser of the group, Jide Bamgbose, said: “Last week Tuesday, the group had over 170 professionals, religious personnel and other important individuals who waited for our future leaders and they did not turn up; today, same thing just happened.”

But the governorship candidates of Providence Peoples Party (PPC), Taiwo Ibiyemi; National Interest Party (NIP), Bolanle Ashabi; and some other parties were available to sign the social contract last week.
