President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has recorded victory over Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in results of 10 of the 44 councils of Kano State.
The results indicate that Buhari defeated Atiku in the Madobi Council, the enclave of former Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso.
Buhari scored 26,110 votes against Atiku’s 13,113 in the results declared by the collation officer, Prof. Magaji Gambo, who is the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Gusau.
Kwankwaso, however, was able to deliver his polling unit for Atiku who scored 278 against Buhari’s 215 votes.
Kano Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), who was on hand to oversee the results declaration, has ordered the repeat of elections in four polling units in Dawakin Tofa Council.
The directive followed the disclosure by the collation officer of the council, Prof. Mohammed Musa, that about 10,000 voters were denied the opportunity to cast their ballots due to malfunction of the card-readers.
But Atiku has taken the lead in Enugu State.
For Aninri Council, the returning officer, Dr. Kasie Ugwu, declared that PDP polled 19,062 votes against APC’s 1,462 and 251.
In Enugu South Council, according to the returning officer, Prof. Paul Onwuasoanya, PDP got 25,631, APC 2,350 and APGA 84.
For Isiuzo Council, the returning officer, Dr. Nicholas Asogwa, declared that PDP secured 15,224 votes, APC 2,291 and APGA 63.
The returning officer for Awgu, Prof. Egbule Ugwoke, said that PDP scored 16,581 votes against APC’s 5857 votes.
In Enugu North, PDP scored 24,921 votes against APC’s 825 votes, said the returning officer, Prof Nnanyelugo Okoro.
