Suspected Fulani warlord, Iskilu Wakili |
A Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Iyaganku, Ibadan, has ordered that Iskilu Wakili, the Fulani herder accused to masterminding killings, rape and kidnapping in Kajola in the Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State and his two sons be remanded in prison custody.
The order was delivered by the Chief Magistrate, Emmanuel Idowu, following the arraignment of Wakili, his sons; Abu (45) and Samaila (27) by the police.
They were charged with conspiracy, murder, kidnapping and armed robbery.
The magistrate did not take the pleas of the accused persons for want of jurisdiction in the case.
He ordered that they be remanded in Abolongo Correctional Centre.
The magistrate also ordered the Police to return the case file to the Oyo State Directorate of Public Prosecution and adjourned the case till May 17 for mention.
Wakili, who was accused of being behind many atrocities in Ibarapa land was captured by members of the Odua People’s Congress on March 7 and handed over to the police.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Oyo State, Mr Olugbenga Fadeyi, on Monday asked victims of Wakili’s alleged criminal activities to come forward with evidence.
